So as you may have noticed once again I have let this poor little blog fall by the wayside once again. I was on a roll for a second there and feeling proud of myself but then we had a major project come up at work that forced me to get deployed for a few weeks and then reassigned for a good 2 months from my regular position (I am still on my reassignment). Even more disconcerting than letting the blog go is I let a few readers down. Remember my Summer Solstice Giveaway? Well right when I was set to send the prizes out I got deployed and so the gifts still sit in my closet. I have ever intention of still sending them out but ok its Fall now so I will be adding a little something more seasonally appropriate to apologize for the all around suckiness that has ensued around here since August for the readers who won.
I have decided to move on from TaTB, its suffering because of my day to day life and not to mention that whoever this other blogger is with a similar name to this blog keeps popping up in my Reader and its pissing me off. I will still blog but I am going to do it under my name (since I own the domain anyway) and I havent decided just yet if it will just be beauty based since I write about beauty for The Examiner or what. Until I make the final decision I will leave TaTB up and when I have the new blog address I will post a link to it here. Thank you so much for checking me out, see you soon!
The chronicles of my experiences with the beauty industry both as a consumer and a professional...with a little bit of everything in between.

Rosebud Salve solves big beauty problems in a tiny can
On an impromptu trip to Urban Outfitters the other day I happened upon the little trinkets they keep in the register area to entice you (note to U.O. - your efforts are not lost on me, I get sucked in each and every time), this time around they had Rosebud Salve. I had heard of it before but never tried it so I picked some up because as it just so happened I had enjoyed some delicious sangria at La Tasca and my lipgloss was completely gone.
As I left the store I cracked it open to apply to my lips and instantly fell in love. It is the perfect mix to produce the perfect product. The packaging is retro fab and while it may be pricey at first glance, a little definitely goes a long way so the price is justified.
Upon further inspection of the tin I discovered that Rosebud Salve isnt just for the relief of dry, chapped lips, this product has a list of uses that is overwhelming in the best possible way! See for yourself:

- relieves hemorrhoids, diaper rash, psoriasis, alopecia and dry scalp
- on insect stings and blemishes to relieve skin irritation
- eye makeup remover
- over lipstick for a dewy effect
- to tame frizzy or fly away hair
- to accent cheeks, collar bones, etc.
- and as an eye shadow base!!!!!

Taking the high road (& more updates)
So my last post may have seemed a bit harsh but if I didn't speak my mind I couldn't honestly call the blog Tried and TRUTH Beauty now could I? Well after I heard from fellow bloggers, other friends and fam I did decide to NOT contact the other blogger about the squatting issue. I dont think it was done maliciously, I just think it was a lack of planning on her part.
And still we press on. At this very moment the wonderful team at WebPhotoMaster is hard at work upgrading my portfolio site so that I can include the movie trailers for the films that I have worked on, a platform that allows viewers to view my site from not only their computers but via their phones as well and a nice little spot for the blog. I will NOT be abandoning T&T Beauty, it will just have a new home so that the confusion will cease. Any makeup artist looking for a place to house their online portfolio should definitely check WebPhotoMaster out, tell them I sent ya!
In addition to the blog changes, I have been given a wonderful opportunity that I wont let the cat out of the bag on just yet. Suffice it to say that I will be writing more and for a larger audience! I cant wait to share this new endeavor with you all.
Thanks as always for sticking with me, big things are on the horizon, definitely more makeup artistry work, reviews, tips and thoughts in general. I leave you with a couple of images from my birthday party back in April until next time!

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery???
Not in this case it doesn't. So anyone who reads this blog...correction, who STILL reads this blog since I royally suck at updating, knows that I haven't posted in a while. This is sadly, the norm as of late, so imagine my surprise as I try to shrink my unread posts on Reader and I see 2 posts from Tried and Truth Beauty, so I think to myself, hmmm something must be wrong with Reader because I haven't posted in a month of Sundays so I click to check it out - well lo and behold a new kid on the block has taken it upon herself to name her blog the same as mine - Tried and Truth Beauty, the only difference is the page address...oh ok great. I own my domain name (learned that early on in the blog game) and again I havent updated in a while but I felt a little salty for a quick second. LOL Then I snapped out of it cause really who gives a fock? I can now stop hemming and hawing over merging the blog with my artist site. See how things can work for the greater good? Awesome. Stay tuned for the new blog...

The Truth About...Me!
Another reason why I picked the name Tried and Truth Beauty is because I have a penchant for seeking out new products, ideas, and experiences.
I never mentioned this before but I am also a freelance makeup artist. I don't bring it up too often because I am still a work in progress. The day to day life that I lead doesn't afford me much time to devote to honing my craft but I promised myself that in 2009 I would attack it with a renewed vigor by continuing my at home studies and also expanding my knowledge with additional classes.
I invite you to follow me on my journey to reaching a level of artistry that I am proud of. I will share updates on my progress and give info on what I learn along the way. In order to start off this journey I would like to share a pic (more to come) of me on set of my first feature film! I was the lead artist on the movie Hard to Find, which is being released in May of this year. I am so very excited and feel so blessed to have been given this opportunity. The producers are now like family to me and I look forward to working with them on future products. Check out the trailer and let me know if you want to come to the premiere!

The Truth About Life...
I tried to jump in head first to the world of blogging and the truth is...sometimes life throws you a curveball and you have to maneuver around it.
I have a job, its not in the beauty or fashion industry, but I enjoy coming to work and I enjoy my co-workers. Currently we are facing layoffs, so my job security is anything but secure at this time. Even if I come out of this unscathed, position still intact, it doesnt negate the fact that others will indeed be affected and that, for me, is a tough pill to swallow.
You see, I have never had to go through this before. I have never been fired (I take that back, I worked at Lerner's - yeah before they were NY & Co. back when Landover Mall was open and was doing well there, transferred to the mall near U.M.E.S. during my freshman year of college and was like ok why the hell am I working? College should be fun! So I kinda quit/kinda got fired from there) any time I left a position it was of my own free will. To have that power stripped away from you is quite frightening to say the least.
"The Sig" says we will be ok, and to an extent I know that, but I cant shake the feeling of impending dread, you know? I cant fathom not being able to do what I want to do, go where I wanna go, etc. because we cant afford it. We are far from rich, but we are in a comfortable place and I like that. *sigh*
I share all of this to say that I love my blog. Its my own little piece of cyberspace and I take great pride in it. I have lots of ideas that I want to implement and I have met great people because of it. I apologize for the lack of posts this week but I barely even have an appetite let alone the frame of mind to share my thoughts on beauty products and the like...
I leave you with this - as Valentine's Day approaches, a "holiday" that I dont fret over like others since I feel that the love you have for someone should be shown any day, every day, I reflect on the love that I have around me. The love of my crazy azz friends, the love of my family, the love that "the sig" and I share and the love of T&T kid and T&T baby, that unconditional love, cause I know that no matter what happens here at work, that love will be there regardless. There is beauty in that, and I hope you all have tried it for yourselves and know it to be the truth.
