Diary of an MUA: Unsung Hollywood

Now that the show has oficially been announced I can share!

I was granted the opportunity to serve as makeup artist for the new TVOne show 'Unsung: Hollywood' before the Christmas Holiday.

It was such a pleasure to be on set and I am so honored for the opportunity.

Here are pics from the day:

Super early call time so I needed to be polished with long lasting products.  Thankful to CoverGirl for sending me the Bombshell collection because the cream shadow really did withstand the day.

Our "set" for the day...

And through the miracle of television we are ready to go!

Comfy, cute and layered up for a long day on set.  You never know about temperature changes or how much ripping and running will be required.

My set up

Jawn Murray was up first

Charnele Brown known for her role as 'Kim Reese' on A Different World

Dr. Michael Eric Dyson

My makeup held up all day!

Tune in to TVOne on February 26th for the premiere of Unsung: Hollywood.

Diary of an MUA: Candy Paint

Now that I see them maybe I will use them...

Paint pots, fluid lines, color tattoos

So far it's been working!

It's a bead holder I got from Michaels years ago.  I used the stackable containers for my Ben Nye pigments and glitter

Diary of an MUA: Giving Back-Help Portrait

Last week there was a post in the TPG Pro group seeking makeup artists in the DC area who were willing to volunteer with a photography studio for a project called Help Portrait.

The synopsis of the Help Portrait philosophy is to find someone in need, take their picture and give it to them.  Simple as that.

On December 7 that is exactly what took place in over 32 countries.

All day I chatted with various families who never had makeup or hair services, some not even for their weddings.  There were even those who've never had a photo done with their families.  Everyone was so greatful for the images, big smiles everywhere.  I was so happy to be involved.

Diary of an MUA: with a Capitol "A"

And when the hard work pays off you don't even notice the long hours and fatigue, you just know you have to keep working because you like the feeling of accomplishment and you don't want it to ever end.

Headed to work, one of the late shifts

Taking it all in

And then...
This happened.

Diary of an MUA: An action packed weekend with Christina of VH1's Miami Monkey Part 1

*Pic heavy post*

I was soooooooooo sick this day but as you know if you are an entrepreneur there are no days off so I fought the good fight at the spalon for my clients and then even though my manager let me leave early when I got the call to do a shoot that same night, "no" was not in my vocabulary.  Good thing too because I was also hired to work the next day.  "Stay ready so you don't have to get ready!" Thanks Crystal Andrea Wright!

Started at the spalon that Saturday where I had back to back clients:

See my face?  Faking it til I could make it cause...yeah

Ffwd to that night for the shoot; I felt a little better after getting much needed rest during the drive to Bmore.

First look for Christina:

The next day...check part 2!
